Royce Bernice Stokes

rs. Royce Bernice Stokes, 85, of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away at 8:40 P.M., Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville. \ She was born April 20, 1924 in Island, KY to the late Charles Clifton Flener and Lena Howard Flener. She was also preceded in death by her sister Sue Poague. \ She was a member of the First Christian Church in Madisonville. \ She was a housewife, worked at the Paper Mill Hallmark Store and co-owned the Window Box Gift Shop. She loved music and playing the piano. \ She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Marion Stokes of Madisonville; two daughters, Cyndi (Gary) Clark of Madisonville and Suanne (Chipper) Bushong of Morehead, KY; one son, Dennis C. (Pam) Stokes of Memphis, TN; one sister, Peggy Owens of Carmel, IN; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday and Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral Home. \ Memorial contributions may be made to LeBonhur Childrens Medical Center in Memphis, TN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
