Ruth Helen Barnes Tucker

Ruth Helen Barnes Tucker, 88, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 5:24 P.M., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. \ \ She was born October 3, 1923, in Madisonville, KY to the late Bosa Bryan Barnes and Robbie Lam Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Bob Tucker, whom she married in 1943 and one sister, Pauline Prowse. \ \ Mrs. Tucker was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1932 and retired in 1981 from the Hopkins County School System having taught for 30 years. She also served as the Chairwoman of the Hopkins County Democratic Party in the late 50s and early 60s. \ \ She is survived by two sons, James Ray (Sandra) Tucker of Paducah, KY and Roy Gilbert (Jamie) Tucker of Madisonville; five grandsons, John Tucker and his children Jake and Emma, Graham Tucker and his children, Justin and Kiersten, Bryan Tucker and his children, Andrew and Kayley, Steven Tucker, Nathan (Emily) Tucker and their son Ford Robert Tucker. \ \ Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Jim McMurtrie, Rev. Harold Meirs and Danny Fireline officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. \ \ Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home. \ \ Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Scott Deahl, Bill Thomas and Jerry Adams. \ \ Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund or the Oneida Baptist Institute. \ \
