Ruth Evelyn Whitfield

Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Whitfield, 93, of White Plains, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at her residence. \ She was born May 31, 1918 in Christian County, KY to the late James Everett Smith and Carrie Mae Wells Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Welby Whitfield, a brother, Wallace Smith, and a son, Clarence Whitfield. \ She operated a cattle farm with her husband and son until 1990 and was a long time member of Concord Baptist Church in White Plains. \ She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Whitfield and Shirley (Warren) Teague, both of White Plains; four grandsons, Jonathon (Kristen) Stapp, Brandon (Vadie) Stapp, Kenny (Kim) Whitfield, all of White Plains, and Joey (Tracy) Whitfield of Blue Ridge, TX; eight great grandchildren, Briley and Hadley Stapp, Katie-Belle and Evelyn Stapp, Courtney and Chloe Whitfield, and Sarah and Sean Whitfield. \ Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday at Concord Baptist Church in White Plains with Brother Ellis Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. \ In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Concord Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
