Timothy Nichols

Timothy Allen Nichols, 73, of Madisonville, KY, passed away, Thursday April 9, 2026, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center.
He was born on August 11, 1952, in Hopkins County, KY, to Martha Merrell Nichols and the late Aubin Nichols.
Tim grew up in Anton and attended Pond River Missionary Baptist Church with his family where he gave his heart to Jesus at the age of 10 and was baptized. He graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1972. Tim was a US Army veteran - serving from 1972 to 1974. He held many jobs but loved being a coal miner and truck driver. Tim was an active member of Christian Assembly in Madisonville, KY for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid collector and trader in guns. He loved animals, especially the dogs he had over the years including his beloved Rocky. He loved sharing his gift of grilling great food with everyone. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed visiting people and shooting the breeze. He was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, and dad and a proud grand and great grandfather. He was generous and loved giving gifts. Most of all, until his last breath, his greatest joy was to have fun and make people laugh. He loved to tease and joke with everyone. He was a great storyteller and his best ones will continue to be told.
He is survived by mother, Martha Nichols, of Anton; his daughters, Jill Nichols of Hanson and Kristy (BJ) Patterson of Hanson; sister, Debbie (John) Higgins; brothers, Richard (Dianne) Nichols and Anthony (Tammy) Nichols; grandchildren, Cierra (Calvin, Jr.) Brent, Shelby Smith, Aubrey Patterson, Emma Patterson, and Will Patterson; and great grandchildren, Kiah Brent, Calvin Brent Jr., and Kameron Smith.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 12, 2025, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Browder Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Richard Nichols, Anthony Nichols, BJ Patterson, Matt Sills, Tim Webb, and Lonnie Strader. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Paterson, Ricky Nichols, Aaron Nichols, John Higgins, and Calvin Brent Jr.
Tim’s family wishes to express our eternal gratitude to all the employees at the Western KY Veterans Center, especially Heather "Knothead" Higgins, for the great care he was provided in the last 6 years of his life. The staff and residents in the Roosevelt House were his family, and he loved them all.
