Vada Holmes

Vada Nell Traylor Fuller Holmes, 98, of Madisonville, KY passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at Park Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation in Madisonville.
She was born on May 21, 1928 in Princeton, KY located in Caldwell County to the late William Traylor and Lola Edna Hodges Traylor. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Malrey Clinton Holmes; her sons, Daniel Holmes and Samuel Holmes; and her step-father, Jacob Purdy.
Vada made her living as a saleslady in the retail industry. She was a member of Souls Harbor Church in Madisonville, KY, where she and her husband were the former Pastors. She and her husband took pride in starting several churches, leading many souls to the Lord. She was an ordained minister and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved helping people from all walks of life, whether their needs were physical or spiritual. She also started teaching the teenage class at Calvary Temple A/G Church in Evansville when she was 26 years old. She was a long-time member of The Assemblies Of God and Abundant Grace Fellowship in Madisonville.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Charles) Ernspiger of Evansville, IN; two sons, Phillip (Glenda) Fuller of Madisonville and Michael (Denise) Holmes of Dawson Springs, KY; one sister, Sue Menser of Earlington, KY; her daughter in law, Julie Holmes of Lithia, FL; nine grandchildren, David (Kristy) Ernspiger, Tami (Chris) Tenbarge, and Brian Fuller, all of Newburgh, IN, Christopher Holmes of Tulsa, OK, Kelli of Florida, David (Pacelena) Holmes and Danny Holmes, both of Tennessee, Samuel Holmes Jr. of Lexington, KY, and Rhonda Taylor of Kentucky; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held Friday July 3, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel with Bro. Danny Wix officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Ernspiger, Charles Ernspiger, Brian Fuller, Chris Tenbarge, Phillip Fuller, and Michael Holmes.
