William \Bill\" Bacon" Blanks

\ \ \ William 'Bill' Bacon Blanks, 87, of Hanson, KY formerly of Mortons Gap, KY passed away, October 1, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. \ \ He was born February 20, 1927 in Madisonville to the late Jewel 'Bub' Blanks and Sara Emily Bacon Blanks. He was also preceded in death by his wife Joyce Greenfield Blanks; one sister, Jane Hicks and two brothers, Robert 'Bobby' Blanks and Lawrence Whitson Blanks. \ \ Mr. Blanks was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre in World War II. He worked in the coal industry most of his life and also served as police chief in Mortons Gap for several years. He will be missed by all who knew him. \ \ He is survived by, one sister, Wanda Rash; three daughters, Debby (Clyde) Hadley of Sardis, OH, Mona (Wayne) Larkins of Hanson, KY, and Donna (Jim) Barton of Owensboro, KY; seven grandchildren, Aimee (Todd) Sensing, Alison (Andy) Hillburn, Ashley Morrow, Adam (Erin) Larkins, Chad (Natalie) Larkins, Sarah (Josh) Mcknight and Evan Blackford; and thirteen great grandchildren. \ \ Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Greenfield and Rev. Kirk Greenfield officiating. Burial will follow in Old Salem Cemetery in Mortons Gap. \ \ Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday and after 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. \ \ Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. \ \ Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \
