William \Bill\"" Major

Mr. William M. Bill Major, 92, of Madisonville, KY, died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 10:45 A.M. in Madisonville. \ He was born July 7, 1915 in Kansas City, MO, to the late Morris Slade Major and Emily Jane Gross Major. \ He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II and a Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima survivor. He was a member of First Christian Church in Madisonville and was the owner and operator of Western Auto for 31 years. He was a member of Retail Merchants Association where he served as vice president a number of times. He was a member of the Madisonville Chamber of Commerce which he helped organize, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. \ Mr. Major is survived by his wife, Ruby Major of Madisonville; a daughter, Ruby Ann Click of Austin, TX; two sons, Robert Major and Bill Major of Madisonville; a sister, Jane Dana of Redlands, CA; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. \ Funeral services will be Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to Madisonville First Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
